Hello Everyone,
My Farm Pro is doing well now.The engine problem turned out to be bad fuel. I put new fuel with an additive. It is running fine now.The hydrolic problem was a loose conection on a line.
Now I have a new question. I spoke to a different dealer the other day and ask about my oil change from the break in oil. He said he changes it at 25 hours.I am going to go with synthetic oil.I am going to use Hastings or Wix filters. The tractor now has 25 hours is it safe to change the oil so soon? Thanks
Tim

Sure it's safe to change the oil at 25 hours but I wouldn't advise putting synthetic in so early. If it were mine I'd run regular dino oil in it until 100 hours or so. ....

This is only my opinion formed from experience not any scientific studys. I'm really not a big believer in synthetics unless the owners manual calls for it. I'd stick with what he factory recomdations are unless they change their specs. for some reason. We do use synthetics in certian gearbox aplications where it's called for, at eight bucks a quart (JD) it has to be doing something that mineral oils can't. In my case it involves a high temprature extreme preshure situation in a 3,000. dollar gearbox. I realize that tractor engines have a harder life than an automobile or pickup, but with timely mantinence with the recommended lubracants the tin worm eats up the body before the engine wears out on most cars. Just my thoughts, Frank. ....

There was an article that was brought up awhile back dealing with some vehicles that synthetic was so slick it didn't allow the rings to seat properly. I can't remember where I read it though. It recommended not using it until the engine was broke in.
If you have the Chinese oil in it I would change it. I changed mine at 25 and after seeing it I would have changed it immediately if I had known. That was true for the transmission and hydraulic fluid also.

I would change the oil now but use a good diesel rated petroleum oil for the next couple of changes before switching to synthetic. at 25 hours I do not belive the engine is completely broken in yet. It is probably the equivelint of 1500-2000 miles of driving, may be too soon for the extra slippery stuff I think. ....
